Dr. Barry Sears is the creator of the Zone Diet. This diet is unique because it works to help you control diabetes, blood pressure, and heart disease through diet; an added bonus is that on this diet, you’ll also lose weight. As with many diets today, you eat smaller meals more often instead of three larger meals. Good nutrition is key, because on the diet, you’ll also be working out, and you’ll need to be energetic enough to do that.
In order for the zone diet to work, you have to take stock of what foods you are currently consuming. Chicken should be on your menu and vegetables. We all know from childhood that vegetables are good for you, beans and whole grains should replace high carbohydrates such as pasta, bread, and bagels.
However, the Zone Diet does not limit your calories; instead, the foods you eat burn instead of store calories. You get glucose from egg whites and low-fat dairy products.

The Zone Diet focuses on these numbers: 40-30-30; that means 40% carbohydrates from foods like complex carbohydrates, fruits and vegetables, 30% protein from foods like chicken, and 30% fat. You can also have occasional treat such as ice cream, but you should limit yourself to a serving when you do so. This diet can work for you if you are struggling with diseases like diabetes or even if you are overweight to obese with no concurrent health problems besides. Oftentimes, to cure certain diseases, all you have to do is to eat right and exercise.
