If you are overweight, and you likely are since you are reading this article, then you know the amazing amount of information out there in order to help you to lose weight. Some of it is good, some of it is not so good. Of course, there are two things that you must do in order to lose weight and keep it off. Diet, and exercise. I’ll be talking about exercise in this article.

By far, the most useful and efficient exercises are the ones that increase your metabolism. That way you will burn more fat around the clock instead of only when you are exercising. The idea is to maximize your metabolism with the least amount of effort.

This is where most people can easily be misled. Most of us assume that if something is good, more is better. And if more is better, then a lot is really better. So some of us spend hours every day on the treadmill. This isn’t the best way to get a fat burning metabolism. There are other ways which require much less effort.

Exercises that are great for this are ones that work all your large muscle groups. Back, chest, legs, buttocks. And when you do lots of repetitions, with low weight, or resistance, you can’t get much better effect on your metabolism.

An ideal set of exercises that does this perfectly are body weight exercises. You can do these anywhere, anytime, and the cool thing about them is that they literally only take a few minutes a day. No gym memberships, special clothes, or equipment. You can do them as soon as you wake up, right next to your bed, wearing whatever you sleep in. And you likely already know most of these great exercises. Push ups, sit ups, back bridges, squats, and any kind of yoga.

Once you start doing just a couple of minutes of these a day, you’ll be amazed at how quickly your body reacts for the better. Even if you can only do one or two of each exercise, you’ll be creating a fantastic effect on your metabolism. The sooner you start, the sooner you’ll see powerful results.
