And having high triglycerides is a risk factor in coronary heart disease. It lowers your good cholesterol (HDL). It can cause blood clots.
So lets now look at how to lower triglycerides. If yours are too high you need to know this.
1. Eat a diet to lower triglycerides. Eat less foods high in fat, especially saturated fat, and avoid sugary foods. Eat more fresh fruit and vegetables and cook with Canola oil or Olive oil.
2. Do more exercise. Exercise helps you to lower your triglycerides, and is good for you in so many other ways.
3. Reduce your alcohol intake.
4. Try to reduce your weight if its excessive.
5. Omega 3 fats found mainly in fish oil are very good for lowering triglycerides and so you ought to consider substituting oily fish for that steak once or twice a week.
